The Egyptian government has launched the first guideline for a gender-responsive sustainable development plan, which aims to increase the percentage of women's participation in economic activity to reach 35% by 2030, compared to the current rate of 14.3%.

A report authored by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the guide puts Egypt at the forefront of countries in the region that give top priority to integrating the social dimension into all development programs and interventions, through an integrated process.

Egypt has taken many strong measures to preserve the critical achievements towards empowering women and mitigating the effects of the pandemic of Corona ( known also as COVID-19) on women.

The report added that at that crucial stage, the government is focusing on implementing national programs and projects that prioritize promoting productive employment and decent work for women, which has led to a decline in Unemployment rates among women from 21.4% in 2018 to 17.7%. In 2020, despite the pandemic.
