The Egyptian government provided cash support to 1.1 million people with special needs, at an annual cost of about EGP 5 billion, according to a report by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.
The report released by the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development stated that the year 2018 witnessed great interest in dissolving problems of people with special needs, given that it was the year designated for the challenger with disabilities.
That year also witnessed the promulgation of Law No. 10 of 2018 on the rights of persons with disabilities, which aims to protect their rights and ensure their full enjoyment of all Human rights alongside the establishment of the “National Council for Persons with Disabilities.”
The report pointed out that the Egyptian state allotted more than EGP 2 trillion pounds for social protection programs during the previous eight years (14/2015-21/2022), with a growth rate of 95%, compared to the eight years that preceded it (2007/06) - 13/2014).
