A private jet carrying eight people crashed during takeoff from an airport in the northeastern United States, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The aircraft went down while departing from Bangor International Airport in the state of Maine at around 7:45 pm local time on Sunday. The plane was identified as a Bombardier Challenger 600. There was no immediate information on the condition of those on board.
The FAA said it is investigating the incident alongside the National Transportation Safety Board to determine the cause of the crash.
The accident occurred as New England and much of the US were being affected by a powerful winter storm. The city of Bangor experienced continuous snowfall throughout Sunday, raising questions about weather conditions at the time of takeoff.
Authorities are continuing to assess the situation, and further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
