In his first superhero foray, Pierce Brosnan will be playing Dr Fate in DC's upcoming movie "Black Adam", starring opposite Dwayne Johnson in the title role.

Brosnan, known for being one of the actors who excelled in playing British spy James Bond, will play Kent Nelson, who is also known as the good Dr. Fate, a son of an archeologist who was taught sorcery skills and given the magical Helmet of Fate.

Dr. Fate was created by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman and is one of DC’s oldest characters. The character first appeared in 1940’s More Fun Comics #5.

Brosnan is the last key member for New Line's action-adventure project that will feature the big-screen debut of the Justice Society, which isn't the Justice League from Justice League but acts as a sort of forerunner to it.

The movie will also feature Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.

Marwan Kenzari, the Aladdin and The Old Guard actor, will also star in the movie.

"Black Adam" is the second New Line/DC film following 2019’s "Shazam!" with the two characters, Shazam and Black Adam, being arch-rivals in the DC Universe.

The movie is scheduled to begin production next April in Atlanta.

"Black Adam" will be directed by Jaume Collet-Serra from a draft written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani from Adam Sztykiel's previous draft. Johnson, Dany Garcia and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions are producing with Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo.
