An iconic painting by the figurative Spanish painter Pablo Picasso was auctioned for more than $ 100 million in Christie's, Sputnik Reported on Saturday.
Called “Woman Sitting near a Window,” the painting is the fifth work by the artist that fitched for more than $ 100 million.

Christie's expressed that the work was estimated as $ 90 million, however, the fees of the commissions increased the amount to $ 103 million. However, the prestigious auction house expected that the artwork would be sold for only $ 55 million.

Dedicated to a woman called Mary-Therese Walter, the painting was sold eight years ago in London for only $ 44 million.
The final artwork auctioned for Piccasso was "Women from Algeria" in 2015 and it was auctioned for $ 179.4 million.
Moreover, Piccasso's latest sold artwork was the first one that crossed $ 100 million since 2019.
