A stolen painting by the iconic Pablo Picasso was found in Athens, 9 years after its stealing. The work was stolen from Athens National Gallary in 2012, BBC reported on Tuesday.

Picasso's "Head of a Woman" was not the only lost artwork from the gallery as a painting by Piet Mondrian was lost as well.

Although the incident took place a few years ago, the Greek authorities have deep faith that these works are still inside the state, and the authorities managed to identify two suspects.

Culture Minister Lina Mendoni said that Picasso's artwork is "impossible to sell or go on display" because it carried a personal inscription by the painter himself.

On Monday, the police managed to arrest the real thief after months of observing him. He hid the works at his home for years with no motives for selling them or auctioning them. The authorities asserted that the seized works are in a good condition.
