Photos: President El Sisi Participates in Denmark's King, Queen State Dinner

On Friday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi participated in a Royal state dinner by King Frederick of Denmark X, and Queen Mary of Denmark to welcome him and to assert the deep ties between Egypt and Denmark.

Princess Marie, Princess Benedikte, members of the government, the Egyptian delegation, representatives from Danish and Egyptian businesses, the Royal Court, and other distinguished guests attended the state dinner.

President El Sisi is the first leader from outside Europe to receive such a glorious Royal and official welcome and reception by the Danish King and Queen, according to Copenhagen Post, describing the visit of the Egyptian leader as "historic."

Queen Mary was seen wearing the new Rose Stone tiara, redesigned from jewels from the Danish royal family's collection.

Mary is the latest Danish royal to continue the tradition of reshaping crown jewels to suit the modern age.

The diamonds were worn by Queen Lovisa of Denmark as a belt in 1911, before Queen Mary turned them into a modern tiara.

On his side, President El Sisi invited King and Queen of Denmark to attend the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

He also sent his wishes to Queen Margrethe II, saying: "I also take this opportunity to extend my best wishes to Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II for continued health and safety. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to the world as a whole."

During the event, President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi wore the Order of the Elephant, King Frederik X wore the Collar of the Order of the Nile while Queen Mary wore the new the Brooch of the Antique Diamond Parure, the ‘Ordensportrættet’ of King Frederik X and the Order of Al-Kamal.
