By the beginning of Christmas holidays, Royal Families around the world started to release the annual and traditional Christmas cards. The British Royal Family is one of the oldest families that followed the tradition of releasing Christmas cards. This feature will include the released Royal Christmas cards for 2024.
King Charles III & Queen Camilla (UK)
UK King Charles III, and Queen Camilla chose a portrait taken by Millie Pilkington for their 2024 Christmas card, and this portrait was part of a set to mark one year since the coronation.
It shows the King and Queen standing closely together and smiling at the camera in the gardens of Buckingham Palace in April.
Prince & Princess of Wales (UK)
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a family video featuring their card with a snowy effect.
The image featured the royal couple with their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
It was taken from a video shot by Will Warr of the family in Norfolk.
The original video was released a few weeks ago when the Princess of Wales announced the end of her chemotherapy.
Princess Anne & Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence (UK)
The Princess Royal's card was released to the Reliant Motor Club. Princess Anne is an honorary member of the Club and chose a picture with her husband Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.
The photo was taken on Garter Day in Windsor in June.
The message read: "With best wishes for a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year, from Anne."
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (UK/US)
The Sussexes shared a rare snap of their children, Archie and Lilibet. The card featured the children running towards their parents for a hug in a garden or a park.
Six images in total are featured with the card, sent by email, which has the message: "On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions, and Archewell Foundation, we wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful New Year."
The other photos were taken during their trips to Colombia and Nigeria.
The Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh (UK)
The Duke of Edinburgh Edward, and Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie paid a sweet tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip who were the former Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh.
The card featured a picture of The Edinburghs both ‘then and now’, with Prince Edward and Sophie on the right and the then Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Elizabeth and Philip on the left.
Both photos were taken at Villa Guardamangia in Valletta.
King Philippe & Queen Mathilda (Belgium)
Belgian King Philippe and Queen Mathilde chose a formal portrait with their four children, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel and Princess Eleonore.
King Willem-Alexander & Queen Maxima (The Netherlands)
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima chose a photo from their annual family summer photoshoot.
The Dutch royals are pictured in the gardens of their royal residence, Huis ten Bosch Palace, with their daughters, Princess Catharina-Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane, as well as their dog Mambo.
Prince Albert & Princess Charlene (Monaco)
Prince Albert, Princess Charlene, and their twins, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella shared a surprising casual-look for their 2024 Christmas card.
The colors of their outfits were selected to reflect the colors oatmeal and mocha as they took the picture before a decorated fireplace and Christmas tree at their royal estate.
King Harald V & Queen Sonja (Norway)
King Harald V and Queen Sonja had a formal family photo with Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Princess Ingrid Alexandra.
Prince Guillaume & Princess Stephanie (Luxembourg)
Prince Guillaume and Princess Stephanie shared several family snaps of their sons: Prince Charles, and Prince François. They wore jumpers and corduroy trousers.
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa (Luxembourg)
Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa released this lovely family photo with their five children and grandchildren, taken in the summer.
King Felipe & Queen Letizia (Spain)
King Felipe and Queen Letizia stood alongside their daughters: Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia for an informal picture which was released for the first time with their Christmas card.
The image was taken after the royals presided over the Solemn Changing of the Royal Guard in June.
The message inside said: "Merry Christmas, and may we all face the New Year with greater confidence."
It also features a tribute to the victims of Valencia floods with an extract from a poem by Francisco Brines, which said:
"And I seek a face that reflects light,
someone who, like me, though only holding death,
also holds, as I once did,
defying it, life."
Prince Philippos & Nina Flohr (Greece)
Prince Philippos, who is the youngest son of the late King Constantine and Queen Anne-Marie, is pictured with his wife, Nina Flohr, in this stunning black and white portrait.
The couple, who married in 2020, said in their festive message: "Wishing you a very happy Christmas & New Year. With all our best for 2025."
Princess Madeleine (Sweden)
Princess Madeleine posted a rare picture of her three children: Princess Leonore, Prince Nicolas, and Princess Adrienne in front of a stunning Christmas tree.
They’re accompanied by their grandmother, Queen Silvia, and their cousins, Princess Estelle, Prince Oscar, Prince Alexander, Prince Gabriel and Prince Julian.
There was another Christmas card was released by the King and Queen of Sweden. In addition, Crown Princess released a warm Christmas stuff with her family.
King Philippe & Queen Mathilda (Denmark)
This year witnessed the release of the first Danish Royal Christmas card by King Philippe who took the throne after his mother Queen Mathilda II abdicated the throne in April.
The photo shared a sweet moment between King Philippe, Queen Mary, and Queen Mathilde with the Duchess of Brabant, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel, and Princess Eléonore.
