Philippine Senior officials to Visit Washington This Week

Philippine Ambassador to the United States (US) Jose Manuel Romualdez said that Filipino senior economic, diplomatic and security officials will travel to Washington later this week for meetings with their US counterparts.

The visit aims at strengthening trade and defense alliances between Manila and Washington.

Moreover, the Filipino ambassador added that Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo and Defense Secretary Carlito Galvez will head to Washington on Monday for ministerial talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Secretary of Defense Lloyd James Austin.

In addition he noted that dialogue between officials at the political level is expected to further strengthen the alliance between the Philippines and the United States, explaining that the discussions will focus on common interests that include energy security, trade, strategic investment cooperation, important and emerging technologies, infrastructure , supply chains, and other areas that would help both countries achieve mutual economic prosperity.
