The death toll from the powerful earthquake that struck Mindanao Island in the southern Philippines has risen to 61.
Channel News Asia reported on Sunday that 40 people remain missing following the strong tremor, according to the latest figures from the disaster management agency.
The earthquake, which struck last Monday and measured 7.8 on the Richter scale, also injured 688 people, displaced more than 3,000 families, and caused damage to infrastructure in the Davao and Suxxargan regions. Power outages affected 16 cities and towns in the two regions.
