The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Wednesday a new oil discovery in the Abu Sennan filed in the Western Desert.

The discovery was achieved after drilling the Salmiya-5 well and placing it on the production map at a rate of 4100 barrels of crude oil and 18 million cubic feet of gas per day.

The new petroleum discovery is located in the geological map at a depth of 14,400 feet.

Borg El Arab Second Discovery

The discovery was made by Borg El Arab Co. , which represents the joint operating entity in Abu Sennan on behalf of the Petroleum Authority and Kuwait Energy Egypt.

It is worth noting that the company previously made a huge oil discovery at the exploration well ASH-2 in December 2019, which was put on production at a rate of 7 thousand barrels of crude oil, and 10 million cubic feet of gas per day.
