Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin's trip to Turkey to visit the Akkuyu nuclear power plant has not been decided yet.

"No exact decisions have been made yet. The only thing that can be said is that, of course, one way or another, the Russian side will be adequately represented and will take part in the ceremony, which will take place at the end of April," Peskov said.

The Russian official asserted that the Akkuyu NPP is "a very important project" for Moscow-Ankara relations.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan pointed out that Putin could possibly visit Turkey on 7 April when it is planned to load nuclear fuel at the Akkuyu NPP.

On a separate note, Peskov underlined on Wednesday that Russia's confrontation with the West would likely last a long time.

"If we talk about the war in a broad sense: the confrontation with Western countries, hybrid war... this will go on for a long time," he indicated, adding that Russians had rallied around President Vladimir Putin in an "unprecedented" way and that most want to see his goals in Ukraine achieved.

"We see an absolutely unprecedented consolidation of Russian society around the president, around the supreme commander-in-chief and the policy that he is pursuing," he noted.
