Violent protests continue in Peru, calling for the resignation of the new president, Dina Boluarte, and early elections, and 66 people have been killed so far, according to the Argentine newspaper "Los Andes".

The newspaper reported that protesters set fire to an office of the National Supervision of the Customs and Excise Administration (SONAT) and an immigration center in Yunguyo, a town 2 km from Bolivia. Moreover, they set fire to the offices of the National Agricultural Health Service (CINASA) and the National Police.

Provincial governor of Arequipa Rohel Sánchez stated that protesters took a police officer hostage, as a result of clashes with law enforcement authorities, adding that they threw stones and tried to seize the police station, but the police dispersed them by firing tear gas and pellets, and 12 injuries were recorded.

Meanwhile, the Public Prosecutor's Office indicated that of the 193 people arrested during the intervention of the National Police of Peru on the campus of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM), 192 have been released and only one remains in detention.

The Argentine newspaper "La Nacion" indicated that the demonstrators in Peru announced the continuation of the strike in the streets until Boluarte announces his resignation.
