At least one person was killed, and nine others were injured in a bomb explosion targeting a passenger bus in northwestern Pakistan, police said on Monday.
The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device, struck the vehicle in the Lakki Marwat area of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Police said the explosion occurred on the Bijokhel road near the Nawarkhel Mor junction, an area that has seen sporadic militant activity in recent years.
Among the injured were two women, according to local authorities. Emergency and rescue teams rushed to the scene shortly after the explosion and transported the wounded to the main hospital in Lakki city for treatment.
Security forces have launched an investigation into the incident, while patrols in the surrounding area have been intensified. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
The explosion underscores persistent security challenges in parts of northwestern Pakistan, where attacks involving improvised explosive devices continue to pose a threat to civilians and public transport despite ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
