The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) has affirmed Israel’s right to respond to the Iranian missile attack but emphasized the importance of reducing regional escalation.
The Pentagon reiterated its strenuous efforts to avoid a broader regional conflict, stressing the need to avoid steps that could lead to further escalation or miscalculation.
In a separate development, Lebanon's Ministry of Health announced on Monday that 10 firefighters were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted the Union of Municipalities building in Bint Jbeil, located in the town of Barachit in southern Lebanon.
According to the Public Health Emergency Operations Center, the firefighters were inside the civil defense building preparing to embark on rescue missions when the attack occurred.
