On Tuesday, Parliament speaker Dr. Hanafy el-Gebaly received Dr. Ghada Wali, the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna, in the presence of Parliament Deputy Speakers, MP Mohamed Aboul Enein, and Chancellor Ahmed Saad El-Din.
The meeting was attended by Christina Albertin, Regional Representative of UNDOC for the Middle East and North Africa, and Ihab El-Manaoui, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Expert at UNDOC, as well as Ahmed Manaa, Parliament Secretary-General.
At the outset of the meeting, Wali congratulated el-Gebaly on his election as Egypt's Parliament speaker, stressing that he is 'a great legal figure', who has many national contributions.
She also added that electing el-Gebaly as parliament speaker enriches Egyptian legislative life.
On his part, he affirmed that appointing Dr. Ghada Wali in this high-level international post reflects the high rank of Egypt among the world countries as well as the position of Egyptian women globally.
Moreover, both sides discussed ways to boost cooperation between Egypt's Parliament and UNDOC.
