The opening procedural session of the new House of Representatives (HoR) witnessed a unique event, as Egypt's youngest two MPs took the constitutional oath, namely Fatma Selim and Abanoub Ezzat.
The session is headed by MP Farida al-Shobashi, the oldest MP in the new parliament. She is the first woman to chair the HoR in the history of Egypt.
Salim, 25, was born in Beni Suef. She is the daughter of businessman Ahmed Mohsen, a member of the Egyptian Senate.
Salim works as a news presenter.
Ezzat, 26, holds a BA in Business Administration with a very good grade.
He graduated from 'Collège des Frères'. He is a board member of 'El-Sahel Sons' company.
The new Parliament includes 162 women, among them 148 elected-MPs, and 14 others appointed by Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.
Newly-elected members of parliament (MPs) are currently taking the constitutional oath.
During the opening session, a new Speaker and two deputies will be elected then the new speaker will take over the chairmanship of the session from Shobashi.
