The Human Rights Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Tarek Radwan, discussed with the National Council for Human Rights headed by Moshira Khattab, the annual report of the National Council for Human Rights's vision and strategy.
The National Council for Human Rights's new formation was officially approved by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi last December.
Khattab stressed that Egypt attaches great importance to the human rights file.
The head of the National Council for Human Rights said that 2022 is the year of civil society, adding, "Efforts have been made to enable civil society organizations to be partners with the Egyptian state."
She pointed out that the launching of the first human rights strategy reflects the state's great interest in this file.
Khattab said the parliament is interested in this strategy and participates in its activation, and the parliament will have a major role in implementing it as well.
On his part, Radwan said that the annual report 2019-2020 is being discussed, and it comes within the framework of joint cooperation between the Parliament's Human Rights Committee and the National Council for Human Rights.

The National Strategy for Human Rights reflects the presence of a firm political will to give impetus to the relevant national efforts.
The strategy includes four main axes of action, including civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights, human rights for women, children, people with disabilities, youth and the elderly, and education and capacity-building in human rights.
Observers say that the national strategy is a very big step forward with regard to the human rights file, as it includes, in its first phase, the state’s plan to promote human rights over a period of five years, 2021-2026.
The National Strategy for Human Rights is the first integrated and long-term national strategy in the field of human rights in the country, and aims to advance all human rights in Egypt by promoting and respecting all civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights and building on the actual progress made in the field of promoting rights and freedoms overcoming the accumulated challenges and addressing the existing shortcomings in the public scene in Egypt.
