Chancellor Sameh Abdel Hakam, President of Court of Appeal, revealed that he has received an invitation from Ministry of Justice to discuss a bill that suggests alternative penalties for debt-saddles people in Egypt.
It is worth mentioning that Abdel Hakam submitted a motion to the House of Representatives (parliament) concerning new procedures against the bad debtors.
The ministry has created recently a pan-ministries commission and called upon all the concerned parties to discuss that bill.

The commission had been formed to implement recommendations of the Conference on the Egyptian Woman and directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi that were included in his historic speech on March 21.
El Sisi urged then the government to enact legislatures and policies to alleviate burdens off both debt-saddled women and men to protect families.
The commission will convene within the few coming days to discuss various mechanisms to apply the law tabled by the House of Representatives and the Panel of Chancellors of the Cabinet.
It comprises representatives of ministries of Interior, Social Solidarity, Finance, Manpower, Public Prosecutor and some institutions.
That law proves interest of the political elite in finding a legal solution for that phenomenon to protect women and the Egyptian family.
The law suggests alternative penalties for simple crimes including ones of the debt-saddled. It also mirrors the modern punitive means; strives to maintain safety and social solidarity.
