 Palestinian President Issues Decree to Release All Political Detainees

On Saturday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazen" issued a decree to release all detainees for political reasons, according to Al-Arabiya TV.

On the other hand, the Palestinian President has decided to extend the state of emergency for a period of 30 days in all Palestinian territories.

The Palestinian News Agency "Wafa" stated that the extension of the state of emergency  to confront the continuing outbreak of the "Coronavirus"

Also, Abbas issued a presidential decree on promoting public freedoms.

He emphasized the provision of a proper environment of public freedoms, provided that the decree is binding on all parties in the territories of Palestine.

The Palestinian News Agency reported, today, Saturday that this decree based on what the Palestinian factions agreed upon in their last meeting in Cairo, which was sponsored by Egypt.

The decree includes promotion of the freedom of political and national action, in accordance with the provisions of the Basic Law (Constitution) and the relevant laws, and affirms the prohibition of prosecution, detention, arrest,  all forms of accountability outside the provisions of the law.

For reasons related to freedom of opinion and political affiliation, and the release of detainees and prisoners on the grounds of political opinion or affiliation, or for all partisan or factional reasons in the territories of the State of Palestine.

The presidential Palestinian ordinance stipulated the provision of complete freedom for electoral campaigning in all its traditional and electronic forms, publishing and printing, organizing political and electoral meetings and meetings, and financing them in accordance with the provisions of the law.

It provides equal opportunities in the official media for all electoral lists without discrimination in accordance with the law.

The decree also stipulated that the Palestinian police, in uniforms and no other security apparatus and formations, shall undertake the task of protecting polling stations and the electoral process in the territories of the State of Palestine.
