Palestinian Prime Minister (PM) Mohammad Mustafa emphasized the urgent need to accelerate international efforts to advance the peace plan and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.

He underscored the State of Palestine’s legal jurisdiction over both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, highlighting the importance of unified Palestinian institutions in achieving the vision of an independent state.

This came during a meeting between Mustafa and Japanese Foreign Minister (FM) Motegi Toshimitsu in Ramallah, attended by Palestinian Foreign Minister Varsen Shahin and the Japanese Ambassador to Palestine, Araiki Katsuhiko.

The meeting focused on the latest developments in Palestine and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Moreover, Palestinian PM highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza resulting from the ongoing occupation's aggression, which has led to approximately 70,000 martyrs and the destruction of 350,000 housing units and most of the infrastructure.

He noted that reconstruction costs are estimated at around $70 billion.

Mustafa also addressed the economic challenges in the West Bank caused by Israeli practices, including the withholding of Palestinian tax revenues and military and settler attacks on cities and camps.

Moreover, he affirmed that the government is implementing a national reform and development program comprising 60 items aimed at modernizing institutions, the economy, and public services.

Furthermore, Mustafa praised Japan's continuous support, including the 2025 aid package.

Furthermore, he noted that the Japanese Minister's visit to the Jalazone refugee camp serves as a message of support for the Palestinian people's resilience and pursuit of freedom and independence, whether through direct aid or via UNRWA.

For his part,Toshimitsu reaffirmed Japan's firm stance in support of the two-state solution, the building of Palestinian state institutions, and the strengthening of efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region.
