Dr. Luay Abu Muammar, an official with the Union of Health Care Committees in Gaza, confirmed on Sunday that the health sector in the Gaza Strip is facing extremely difficult conditions due to the ongoing war and its humanitarian repercussions. He cited a severe shortage of medicines and medical supplies, and widespread disruptions to diagnostic services, which directly impact the ability of health institutions to meet the needs of the population.
In a press statement, Abu Muammar said that the health system in Gaza is suffering from significant deterioration as a result of the targeting of health infrastructure and the prevention of the entry of essential supplies and medicines. He pointed out that this situation threatens the health sector's ability to continue providing its services.
Abu Muammar explained that the most prominent challenges include a shortage of advanced medical equipment such as MRI machines, in addition to the disruption of early disease detection procedures. This makes it difficult to diagnose cases in their early stages and further complicates treatment.
