A Palestinian man from the Al-Shaer family was martyred, and another was critically injured following an Israeli drone strike in the Abu Halawa area, east of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
The casualties were transported to the European Hospital in southeast Khan Younis, according to reports from Youssef Abu Kuwaik, a correspondent for Al-Qahera News in Gaza.
The Israeli military claimed that the strike targeted Palestinians allegedly launching a drone over an area where Israeli forces were stationed east of Rafah. However, eyewitnesses reported that the victims were returning to inspect their homes after Israeli military vehicles had retreated.
The Abu Halawa area has witnessed ground incursions since the start of the Israeli assault on Rafah.
Abu Kuwaik further reported that Israeli forces continued demolishing civilian homes in the southwesternmost parts of Rafah overnight and into the early morning. These areas remain under Israeli control, with the military justifying the demolitions by claiming they are within buffer zones ranging from 700 to 1,000 meters deep, located north of the Salah al-Din axis, also known as the Philadelphia Route.
The situation in Gaza remains tense as Israeli attacks persist, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the besieged enclave.
