Palestinian, Israeli Officials Meet in Sharm El-Sheikh

In response to the invitation of the Arab Republic of Egypt, prominent Egyptian, Jordanian, Israeli, Palestinian and US security officials and politicians met in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh today, Sunday, to continue the understanding reached in Aqaba, Jordan, on February 26, 2023.

The five parties held extensive discussions on ways and means to reduce tensions between the Palestinians and the Israelis with the aim of paving the way for a peaceful settlement between the two sides. 

The participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting security, stability and peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike, and recongnizing the need to achieve calm and prevent further violence, in addition to seeking confidence-building measures, enhancing mutual confidence and opening political horizons. 

The parties expressed their appreciation for the Arab Republic of Egypt for organizing and hosting this meeting, praising its endeavors to ensure that these steps will achieve positive results, as well as its main role, which aims to reach a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and maintain calm and stability in the region. 

The parties also thanked the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the United States of America for their major role in reaching understandings aimed at preventing escalation and promoting the prospects of peace.
