The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that 20,058 Palestinian students have been martyred and 31,139 others have been injured since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.

It explained that 179 public schools were completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 63 university buildings. Furthermore, 118 public schools and more than 100 schools run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) were bombed and vandalized. The occupation's aggression resulted in the removal of a total of 30 schools, along with their students and teachers, from the educational register. In the West Bank, the occupation destroyed the Amira Elementary School in Yatta, south of Hebron, and the Aqaba Elementary School in Tubas. Eight universities and colleges were subjected to repeated raids and vandalism.

In a related context, the Palestinian Prisoners' Club confirmed that the number of martyrs among Palestinian prisoners and detainees, whose identities are known, has risen to 80 since the beginning of the war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, including at least 47 martyrs from Gaza.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club stated in a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that the number of martyrs among Palestinian prisoners and detainees whose identities are known since 1967 has risen to 317 martyrs, which institutions have been able to document over decades. It pointed out that in light of the war of extermination, there is information about dozens of detainees who were executed in the field after their arrest, specifically from Gaza.
