The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education revealed on Thursday that approximately 350 students are currently being held in Israeli prisons, where they face harsh detention conditions that violate all international laws and conventions.
In a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) on Thursday, the Ministry added that, on the occasion of Palestinian Prisoners' Day, which falls on Friday, the detainees are subjected to systematic policies including night arrests, harsh interrogations, solitary confinement, denial of education, medical neglect, and ill-treatment.
The Ministry confirmed that, based on documented testimonies from imprisoned children and students, many of them have been subjected to shocking detention conditions. Some recounted being taken from their homes at night with their hands bound and eyes blindfolded, while others spoke of being prevented from continuing their education and being held in environments lacking the most basic necessities for human life, in addition to being subjected to psychological pressure and intimidation during interrogation.
