Palestinian Authorities Start  vaccination campaign  against Corona in Gaza Strip   on Monday

The local authorities in the Gaza Strip started the vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus (COVID-19  today, Monday,    in the presence of heavy local and international media, days after the Palestinians received thousands of doses of the Russian vaccine, "Sputnik V".

Majdi Dahir, Deputy Director-General of Primary Care at the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that priority for vaccination, which is carried out with the Russian vaccine, will be given to health workers, who are considered the most vulnerable to the infection before moving to immunize the elderly, those with fragile health and chronic diseases.

Yesterday, Sunday, in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinians received 20,000 doses of the Russian vaccine through the Rafah land crossing with Egypt, donated by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), while the West Bank received about 2000 doses last week for the benefit of the health sector, which has recorded more than 54 thousand cases of the infection with the Coronavirus so far, from among them, 543 deaths, in a region of more than 2 million people.

Medhat Muheisen, Assistant Undersecretary at the Palestinian Ministry of Health, said today, Monday, during a press conference prior to the launch of the vaccination campaign: “We have received 22,000 doses of (COVID-19) vaccine, 20,000 doses provided by the UAE, and 2,000 doses provided by the ministry. In Ramallah. "

As soon as the press conference ended, the campaign was officially launched with dozens of people vaccinated inside the hall.

Last Wednesday, the first batch of the Russian "Sputnik V" vaccine against Corona arrived in the Gaza Strip, via the Kerem Shalom crossing in the southeast of the Gaza Strip.

"Wafa" the Palestinian news agency, reported that the first batch of 2,000 doses of Corona vaccines arrived at health warehouses in Gaza coming from Ramallah through the Kerem Shalom commercial crossing in the southeast of the Gaza Strip.

Last Monday, the Israeli authorities prevented the Russian Corona vaccines from reaching Gaza
