Moments ago, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas described US President Donald Trump's peace plan for the Middle East as a conspiracy, and addressed Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the rights of the Palestinian people "are not for sale."

Abbas said in a televised speech in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank that he was telling Trump and Netanyahu that "Jerusalem is not for sale and all our rights are not for sale, bargaining and the conspiracy deal will never pass."

Abbas's comments came after Trump proposed his controversial peace plan, known as "Deal of Century" amid wide denouncing and criticism that the US president is offering what might help Netanyahu to win in the upcoming Israeli elections, due in March, as the latter, recently, hailed Trump and said that he was the "best friend of Israel.

Prior to his speech, President Abbas received a phone call from the head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniyeh, who expressed, his group stance, supporting the president's steadfast positions, adhering to the legitimate national stance of the Palestinian people, and rejecting the so-called deal of the century aimed at liquidating the Palestinian national project.

He stressed that the Palestinian people, in all their factions and political parties, must stand side by side in support of the positions of the president; they are steadfast and rejecting all plans to liquidate the Palestinian issue, foremost of which is the "deal of the century".

Haniyeh called for putting all differences aside and standing together in the face of the scheme to liquidate the Palestinian national project.

On his part, President Abbas appreciated the initiative of Haniyeh, stressing that the focal point of confronting and foiling the American liquidation plan is based on Palestinian national unity.
