The Freedoms Committee of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate documented a significant escalation in violations and attacks committed by Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian journalists during the month of May. The committee recorded 55 violations as part of a systematic policy aimed at restricting freedom of the press and preventing journalists from carrying out their professional duty of reporting the truth and documenting violations on the ground.

In its monthly report issued today, Monday, as reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA), the committee stated that it documented 55 violations against Palestinian journalists and media institutions during the past month. These included two injuries from live ammunition while covering events in the field, two arbitrary arrests, 30 cases of detention and obstruction of work and coverage, five instances of direct gunfire directed at journalists, and five attacks using tear gas and stun grenades.

The report recorded two cases of confiscation of journalistic equipment, two cases of assault on journalists, two cases of barring journalists from covering events at the Al-Aqsa Mosque, in addition to one case of storming and closing a media institution, one case of appearing before the court, and three cases of investigation and summons of journalists.
