Palestine: ICJ Will Examine Legal Implications of Continued Israeli Occupation

Palestine's delegate to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, announced that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is going to examine the legal implications of the continued Israeli occupation and the deprivation of Palestinians of their rights.

In an interview with "Voice of Palestine" radio, Mansour said, "The next step, after the voting of the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) by the majority, to go to the ICJ to take an advisory opinion on the nature of the Israeli occupation, which is to hold a meeting with the legal department of the court next week on collecting the materials, documents, and studies that the department collects to provide it to it.

Mansour added that the Secretary-General of the United Nations sends a message to the Secretary-General of the ICJ about the decision of the General Assembly and the start of its implementation.

The Palestinian diplomat added that

the ICJ will examine the legal implications of the continued occupation of the land and the deprivation of the Palestinian people of their rights and everything related to settlement, annexation, and house demolition."

Mansour indicated that the Security Council of the UN will hold an open session at the end of this month to discuss the latest developments.
