Pakistani Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended a high-level meeting of Arab and Islamic leaders in New York on Monday, hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The gathering, held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, brought together regional and international leaders to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Middle East peace process, and broader efforts to promote regional stability.

Sharif’s participation highlighted Pakistan’s longstanding support for the Palestinian cause and its close ties with the Arab and Islamic world. In recent months, Islamabad has repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated its backing of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The meeting also reflected Washington’s attempt to engage Arab and Islamic partners more closely in shaping a roadmap for post-war reconstruction in Gaza and advancing dialogue on security cooperation. For Qatar, a key mediator in past truce negotiations, the session reinforced its role as an influential player in regional diplomacy.

Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s commitment to working with Arab, Islamic, and international partners to address urgent humanitarian needs and contribute to a sustainable peace in the Middle East.
