Pakistan’s Ambassador to Egypt, Aamir Shouket, formally presented his Letter of Credence to the Secretary General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, at the League’s Secretariat in Cairo today.

The meeting underscored Pakistan’s deepening interest in strengthening institutional ties with the Arab League and its member states. Both sides held wide-ranging discussions on bilateral cooperation, with a strong emphasis on enhancing Pakistan’s engagement with the Arab world on critical regional and international matters.

Central to the dialogue was the Palestinian issue, which remains a cornerstone of Arab League priorities. Shouket reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause, highlighting Islamabad’s consistent stance on the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. Secretary General Aboul Gheit acknowledged Pakistan’s unwavering diplomatic backing and welcomed deeper coordination on this front.

Discussions also included current regional developments and avenues for collaboration in political, economic, and cultural fields. Both parties expressed commitment to closer coordination on shared challenges, including instability in the Middle East, global security dynamics, and rising humanitarian needs in conflict-affected areas.

Ambassador Shouket, who recently also engaged with senior Egyptian officials and religious leaders, reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to work closely with the Arab League in promoting peace, regional integration, and multilateral cooperation
