Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is set to participate in the emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Monday, according to a statement released by the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday.
The high-level summit, co-sponsored by Pakistan, comes in the wake of Israeli airstrikes on Doha and the escalating crisis in Palestine. It aims to address the recent Israeli military campaign, particularly the occupation attempts in Gaza, expanding settlement activity in the occupied West Bank, and the ongoing forced displacement of Palestinians.
Leaders, heads of government, and top officials from member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are expected to attend.
Ahead of the main event, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, will participate in the preparatory foreign ministers’ meeting to finalize the summit's agenda and unified response.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized Pakistan’s strong bilateral ties with Qatar and reiterated its firm condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Qatar and the broader region. As part of a regional solidarity initiative, Prime Minister Sharif visited Doha on Thursday, where he met with Qatari leadership and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Qatar’s sovereignty and security.
Sharif also underscored Pakistan’s commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East, urging the international community to take decisive action against aggression and to protect the rights of the Palestinian people.
