Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism regarding the recent political developments in Syria, following Ahmed Al-Sharaa's inauguration as the president during a transitional phase. Al-Sharaa, who assumed office on Wednesday, previously led a campaign that successfully ousted former President Bashar Assad.
This leadership change marks a significant shift in Syria’s governance, with Al-Sharaa also tasked with forming a temporary legislative council. The Syrian constitution has been suspended to facilitate this transition.
On the social media platform X, PM Sharif conveyed his congratulations, stating, “We welcome Mr. Ahmed Al-Sharaa’s assumption of office as President of the Syrian Arab Republic during the transitional phase and hope that the new leadership will bring peace, progress, and prosperity to the brotherly people of Syria.”
