Pakistani PM Condemns Assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh

Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif Strongly condemned the assassination of the respected Palestinian Journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, at the hands of Israeli forces.

In a tweet he said: "Silencing voices of those who tell stories of oppressed people is part of a deliberate strategy employed by Israel & India in Palestine & Occupied Kashmir."

Iconic Palestinian reporter and journalist Abu Akleh was killed during covering an Israeli attack in the Palestinian West Bank for a famous Arabic news podcaster, ABC News reported on Wednesday.

Abu Akleh was not the only reporter who was attacked during covering the events in the Jenin camp, Al-Quds newspaper reporter was also injured, but she is in a stable condition right now.

The Arabic network issued a statement condemning the attack that targeted the channel’s working team in Palestine, in addition, it urged the international community to “condemn and hold the Israeli occupation forces accountable for deliberately targeting and killing our colleague, Abu Akleh.”

It also reported that “it is investigating the event and looking into the possibility that the journalists were hit by the Palestinian gunmen.”

On the other hand, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said it offered the Palestinian Authorities a joint investigation into the reporter’s death.

Lapid tweeted: “Journalists must be protected in conflict zones and we all have a responsibility to get to the truth.”
