Pakistan Temporarily Suspends Flights

Pakistan has temporarily suspended all flight operations at four of its major airports, including those in Lahore and Sialkot, due to escalating tensions with neighbouring India.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority announced the measure early Thursday, urging travellers to stay in touch with airlines for the latest updates.

According to the statement, flight operations at Lahore and Sialkot airports have been halted until 12 noon local time.

The suspension has also been extended to Karachi and Islamabad airports for the same duration, affecting both domestic and international flights.

This precautionary step follows a dramatic surge in cross-border tensions after Indian airstrikes targeted areas inside Pakistan and the Pakistan-administered region of Kashmir on Tuesday.

Pakistan has strongly condemned the attacks, calling them a violation of its sovereignty and reserving the right to respond.

The escalation comes just days after a deadly incident in the Pahalgam region of Indian-administered Kashmir, where at least 26 people were killed. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack, an allegation Islamabad has firmly denied.
