Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the final agreed text of a proposed peace agreement between Iran and the United States has been completed, adding that Islamabad is working with both sides to finalise the next steps.

In a post on X, Sharif said that “peace has never been closer,” in what was seen as a notable diplomatic development in Pakistan’s mediation efforts between Tehran and Washington.

The announcement comes amid intensified regional and international efforts to end the conflict and reach a broader understanding between the United States and Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also revealed details of the expected agreement, saying the first phase consists of a memorandum of understanding currently made up of 14 articles. He said the memorandum represents the beginning of a 60-day negotiation period aimed at addressing outstanding disputes, including the Iranian nuclear file.

Araghchi added that ending the war under the memorandum would also include the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Lebanese territory, making Lebanon a central part of the proposed arrangement.

The Iranian foreign minister warned that if the commitments made by the other side under the memorandum are not implemented within the 60-day period, negotiations on the remaining issues will not move forward.

Meanwhile, US media reported that the administration of President Donald Trump is moving ahead with plans to hold a signing ceremony in Geneva, possibly during the weekend.
