On Friday, Pakistan's health ministry confirmed the first confirmed case of Monkeypox have been detected in the country.
One of the cases is a patient who returned from a Gulf country. The authorities didn't express which strain of Monkeypox was detected in the country.
The Department of Health in the Khyber Pakhtunkwa province announced that one mpox case had been confirmed in the region.
A health official said that the patient had received tests and advice at a hospital in the provincial capital Peshawar.
He returned to his home, before moving to another district.
"When we visited his home in Mardan, it was locked from outside and his neighbours told us that the family has left for Dir," said the DHO Mardan.
He added: "We approached our fellow colleagues of the health department in Dir district, but they couldn’t trace him even in Dir."
The national health ministry said it has contact tracing of the patient.
