Punjab police in Pakistan have arrested more than 3,500 people across the province as part of a campaign to crack down on members of former Prime Minister Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf party, as well as identify suspects in the attacks on the headquarters and home of Lahore Corps Commander.
On Monday, the Pakistani newspaper "The News" quoted Mohsin Naqvi, the interim chief minister of Punjab province, as telling prominent journalists that on May 9, horrific terrorist incidents took place in many cities, including Lahore.
According to estimates, the volume of losses resulting from these terrorist incidents has so far reached more than 6 billion rupees (one dollar equals 82.2 rupees).
Naqvi said that all attacks, incidents of siege, looting, and vandalism were carried out with systematic planning.
Pakistan's interior minister, Rana Sanaullah, had called for a ban on the country's largest opposition party, led by former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
