Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held talks with U.S. Vice President JD Vance in Islamabad as the Islamabad Talks officially commenced, in a meeting focused on advancing diplomatic efforts toward regional stability.
The U.S. side included Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, while the Pakistani delegation featured Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Interior Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi.
Sharif praised the constructive engagement shown by both sides and expressed hope that the talks would represent a meaningful step toward achieving durable peace in the region.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continuing its role as a facilitator, supporting dialogue between parties and encouraging progress toward a sustainable and long-term political solution.
