Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Sunday that his cabinet has officially approved the nation’s joining of the "Council of Peace." The announcement, made during his visit to the British capital, signals Pakistan’s commitment to a new international framework aimed at ending the conflict in Gaza and resolving global disputes.

The Council of Peace was launched late last year as part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s broader strategic plan for the Middle East. Prime Minister Sharif had previously signed the council’s charter alongside other world leaders during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

A Path Toward Palestinian Dignity In his address to the media, Sharif expressed optimism that the council’s efforts would soon yield a breakthrough. "We hope that peace will be established in Gaza shortly," Sharif stated, emphasizing that the primary goal is to ensure the Palestinian people achieve their rights with "respect and dignity."

The Council of Peace is designed to serve as a high-level diplomatic body focused on conflict resolution, with its current immediate priority being the stabilization of Gaza and the implementation of a sustainable peace plan. Pakistan’s involvement is seen as a strategic move to align with the evolving U.S. diplomatic architecture while advocating for Palestinian sovereignty on the global stage.

Global Diplomatic Alignment By joining the council, Pakistan joins a growing list of nations supporting the Trump administration’s diplomatic initiatives. The move reflects a shift toward multilateral frameworks that prioritize rapid mediation and economic-security incentives to resolve long-standing geopolitical crises.
