Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s recognition of Somaliland and the visit by Israel’s foreign minister, reaffirming its full support for Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

In a press release issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar delivered the remarks during an extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held on January 10 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Pakistan aligned itself with the OIC’s collective rejection of Israel’s move, describing it as a violation of international law and an act of political aggression that threatens peace and security in the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea region, and beyond. The statement emphasized that Somalia’s internationally recognized borders are inviolable and that Somaliland remains an integral part of Somalia.

The foreign minister highlighted Somalia’s recent progress in political reconciliation, constitutional reform, economic development, inclusive elections, and counterterrorism efforts against Al-Shabab. He warned that external interference undermines these achievements and risks destabilizing the region.

The statement also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Palestinian self-determination, backing the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. Pakistan reiterated its commitment to implementing UN Security Council Resolution 2803 and supporting efforts toward a ceasefire in Gaza.

Moreover, Pakistan urged the OIC and the international community to collectively reject actions that undermine Somalia and the disputed region of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). The statement called for a just resolution of the Kashmir issue under United Nations auspices and reaffirmed Pakistan’s steadfast solidarity with the people of Somalia and Kashmir.

The remarks underscored Pakistan’s position on upholding international law, respecting sovereignty, and addressing regional conflicts through multilateral engagement and UN-led processes.
