Three people were killed, and 5 others were injured after gunmen attacked a camp for road construction workers in Balochistan, southwestern Pakistan.
Farah Azeem Shah, a spokesperson for the Balochistan provincial government, told ABC News on Saturday that the militants fired on the camp, set vehicles on fire, and destroyed machines in a mountainous area of Harnai province.
The spokesperson explained that the camp is a part of a local company working on a road construction project.
So far, no party claimed responsibility for the incident, while accusations point to separatist groups involved in low-level insurgencies in Balochistan province, as they launched similar attacks targeting non-local workers and accusing them of stealing jobs in the province.
In the same vein, a gunman and a soldier were killed in an exchange of fire in northwestern Waziristan on Saturday.
A military statement said that the security forces seized weapons and ammunition at the place where the gunman was killed. It added that intense exchange of fire erupted during a raid on the main town of Miranshah in the area.
The area served as a haven for militants for years until 2014 when the military carried out massive operations to clear the area of militants.
