On Friday, Thai parliament elected Paetongtarn Shinawatra as the new prime minister of the country to become the youngest elected prime minister in the history of the country.
The newly-elected prime minister also became Thailand's second female prime minister and the third member from Shinawatra family to come to such office. She is the daughter of well-known Thaksin Shinawatra.
She was elected only a day after she was brought to the spotlight, and two days after Srettha Thavisin was ousted.
She won with nearly two-thirds of the house's votes.
In her first remarks as prime minister-elect, Paetongtarn said: "I hope I can do my best to make the country go forward. That's what I'm trying to do. Today I'm honoured and I feel very happy."
