The Czech authorities issued more than 50 flood warnings across various regions of the country on Wednesday following heavy rainfall that led to rising water levels in some rivers.
According to Radio Prague International's English newsletter, the warnings were issued at both the first and second levels. It is expected that heavy rain will continue until Thursday, with flood warnings remaining in effect until further notice.
The Czech Republic, located in Central Europe, is prone to occasional flooding due to its geography, with numerous rivers and water bodies crisscrossing the country.
The flood warnings issued by Czech authorities are categorized into different levels, with the first level typically indicating a lower flood risk, while the second level implies a higher degree of risk.
These warnings are essential for alerting residents and local authorities to take necessary precautions, such as evacuations and flood protection measures, to minimize the potential impact of flooding.
