El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur, is experiencing an escalating humanitarian crisis as more than 36,000 people have been displaced by the ongoing conflict.
Thousands are struggling with severe shortages of food, clean water, and shelter amid warnings of a total collapse in living conditions.
According to local coordination groups, hundreds of unaccompanied children have arrived in the town of Tawila after fleeing violence, while women, children, and the elderly remain the most affected by malnutrition and insecurity.
The Rapid Support Forces, which recently seized control of El Fasher after an 18-month siege, have been accused of targeting civilians, though the group denies the allegations.
Humanitarian organizations, including the Sudanese Doctors’ Union and Médecins Sans Frontières, report that displaced families have undertaken dangerous journeys to reach safer areas such as Al-Dabba in Northern State.
They warn that host communities are overwhelmed, and the number of displaced could double as the situation worsens across Darfur.
Aid agencies are calling for immediate humanitarian access, medical assistance, and safe corridors to deliver food and supplies to those trapped by the fighting.
