Oscar Nominations 2021 to Watch: "Sound of Metal"

A few days separate us from the 93rd Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, which is set to take place this Sunday, April 25.

There are nine movies nominated for best picture at the Oscars from Sound of Metal to Promising Young Woman.

"Sound of Metal" stars British actor Riz Ahmed as a drummer who suddenly discovers that he is rapidly losing his hearing. He finds help from a person (played by Paul Reese) who runs a center to help deaf people recover from addiction, which opens the way for him to a new life that leaves the viewer with a feeling of compassion.

The movie was nominated for six Academy Awards. Ahmed is the first Muslim to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor.

Moreover, "Sound of Metal" won Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, Best Editing, and Best Sound Editing nominations, while Reese was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
