OpenAI Launches ChatGPT App for Windows

OpenAI, the artificial intelligence (AI) technology company, has announced the launch of a dedicated version of its ChatGPT app for Windows.

Currently in a testing phase, this app is designed specifically for Windows users, marking a significant expansion of the AI-powered conversation tool.

According to tech news platform TechCrunch, the initial release is available only to users subscribed to ChatGPT Plus, Teams, Enterprise, and EDU versions. The app is still in its early stages, with a full version expected later this year.

With the launch of the official desktop app, users can now interact with files and images using generative AI technology. 

OpenAI has confirmed that the app includes advanced features of its latest language model, "OpenAI 01-Preview," which allows users to benefit from the most up-to-date and powerful AI capabilities.

The ChatGPT Windows app is compatible with devices running Windows 10, though some features remain limited compared to other ChatGPT versions.

Voice interaction, including advanced voice features, is not yet supported. Additionally, certain integrations with the GPT Store are not fully functional in this version.

Like its macOS counterpart, ChatGPT for Windows allows users to resize the app into a small companion window that can be used alongside other applications.

The app also supports file and image uploads, enabling it to summarize documents and generate images using OpenAI’s DALL-E 3 image generator.
