The Muslim Council of Elders, under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, emphasizes the importance of enhancing international efforts to address humanitarian crises facing the world. The Council also calls for collaboration and intensification of these efforts to aid millions of refugees, displaced individuals, and those who have lost their homes as well as providing urgent solutions to end their suffering.
In a statement on World Humanitarian Day, which is celebrated on August 19 of every year, the Council urges the necessity of assisting every individual, particularly the vulnerable and those in dire need, in alignment with the historical Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity, which was co-signed by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, along with His Holiness Pope Francis of the Catholic Church in February 2019.
The Muslim Council of Elders expresses gratitude to all humanitarian workers who, despite all challenges, continue their efforts under the theme "No Matter What." The Council honors those who have lost their lives in the service of humanity and those who persist in providing aid and relief to millions worldwide while stressing the importance of providing the necessary support to them in order to fulfill their humanitarian role.
The Muslim Council of Elders works tirelessly to promote dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, human fraternity, and awareness about the significance of humanitarian work. It continually strives to instill hope in the hearts of those suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions due to wars, conflicts, and other contemporary global challenges.
