On the occasion of the International Youth Day, celebrated on every 12th of August by the international community each year, The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, extends his cordial congratulations to youth all over the world, especially youth in the OIC Member States and expresses serious concerns for the well-being of youth in the conflicts zones.
He points out that this occasion reminds us of the importance of potential youth capital who, if trained and equipped in a healthy and enabling environment with adequate knowledge and skills, can play a vibrant role in the development of their societies and nations at all levels.
The Secretary-General also stated that this occasion provides an opportunity to evaluate and monitor OIC’s efforts towards achieving the Goals of the OIC-2025 Program of Action and the OIC Youth Strategy, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Secretary-General calls upon all Member States to invest more in the local youth, enabling them to face the challenges of the future and contribute to achieving the OIC Goals and SDGs. He also calls on the OIC relevant institutions to support the efforts of Member States in this regard.
It is worth noting that the theme of the International Youth Day for the year 2025 is: “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond”, which largely reflects the importance and pivotal role of youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
